Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel Plate High Strength for Chemical Processing Equipment

Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel Plate is a ferritic-austenitic stainless steel that delivers roughly twice the yield strength of common 304 or 316 grades while offering far higher resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and pitting. Its balanced chemistry gives it a Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number of about 35, which makes it ideal for aggressive chemical, petrochemical and offshore service where ordinary austenitic grades would pit or crack. For equipment designers, the high strength means thinner walls, lower weight and reduced material cost, while the excellent corrosion resistance extends service life and cuts maintenance. It is the material of choice when both mechanical strength and chloride resistance must be met at once.

Duplex 2205 plate is widely used for chemical-process vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, desalination plant components, offshore platform pipework, pulp and paper digesters, flue-gas desulphurization equipment, and structural members exposed to chlorides. In the oil and gas sector it serves for pipelines, manifolds and wellhead equipment, while in marine engineering it is used for propeller shafts, rudders and seawater systems. Because the material resists both uniform and localized corrosion, it extends the interval between inspections and maintenance, which is particularly valuable for equipment that is difficult to access.

Plates are supplied pickled and annealed with a No.1 surface, protected by waterproof paper where necessary, stacked on steel or wooden pallets and secured with strapping for container loading and flat transport. Chemistry, yield strength, elongation and corrosion-resistance indicators are verified before dispatch, and a Mill Test Certificate is issued for each heat. We can cut plates to size and provide small trial pieces for welding qualification, so fabricators can confirm process parameters before full production runs.
