Main Manufacturing Processes

Hot-rolled (extruded) seamless steel pipe:

Process: Round billet → Heating → Piercing → Rolling/extruded → Sizing → Cooling → Straightening → Inspection.

Features: High production efficiency, relatively low cost, wide size range (outer diameter and wall thickness). Surface has oxide scale (usually black), dimensional accuracy and surface finish are not as good as cold-drawn pipe.

Cold-drawn (rolled) seamless steel pipe:

Process: Hot-rolled pipe as billet → Pickling to remove oxide scale → Cold drawing or cold rolling → Heat treatment (stress relief) → Straightening → Inspection.

Features: High dimensional accuracy, good surface finish, superior mechanical properties (higher strength), but longer production cycle and higher cost. Typically used for small diameter, thin-walled, and high-precision applications.
