Product Description
Factory Price Stainless Steel 316Ti With High Corrosion Resistance And Stability
Product Description:
Key Features:
Based on 316 stainless steel, the addition of titanium provides excellent resistance to both chloride ion corrosion and intergranular corrosion.
Simply put, 316Ti = the corrosion resistance of 316 + the stability of 321.
Chemical Composition and Principle:
Basic: Inherits the core components of 316 stainless steel: chromium (~17%), nickel (~10%), and molybdenum (~2%). The addition of molybdenum significantly improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in chloride-containing environments.
Key Addition: Like 321, titanium is added, and the titanium content is typically no less than 5 times the carbon content (Ti ≥ 5 × C).
The Role of Titanium: Also acts as a stabilizing element. During welding or at high temperatures (450-850°C), titanium preferentially combines with carbon to form titanium carbide, preventing carbon from combining with chromium to cause chromium depletion at grain boundaries, thus providing immunity to intergranular corrosion. This makes it more reliable than ordinary 316L after welding or at high temperatures.
Key Performance Characteristics:
Dual Corrosion Resistance:
Resistant to Chloride Ion Corrosion: Thanks to molybdenum, its resistance to pitting corrosion in seawater, salt spray, and chlorinated media is far superior to 304 and 321.
Resistant to Intergranular Corrosion: Thanks to titanium, intergranular corrosion does not occur after welding or high-temperature sensitization.
Good High-Temperature Performance:
Due to its stable microstructure, it can be used continuously at relatively high temperatures (approximately 600-800°C) while maintaining good strength and oxidation resistance.
Weldability:
It exhibits excellent weldability, and post-weld annealing is unnecessary to maintain its resistance to intergranular corrosion (one of the biggest differences from unstabilized 316).
