Product Description
Tinplate crown cap coil is a single reduced electrolytic tin coated steel strip engineered for the high speed production of crown bottle closures. It combines the formability of low carbon steel with the corrosion resistance and solderability of tin, making it the standard substrate for beer, soft drink and sparkling water caps.
The T4 temper grade provides the balanced hardness and ductility required for deep crimping of the twenty one tooth crown shell, ensuring a tight seal against carbonation pressure without cracking the lacquer or the tin layer during forming.
Key Features- Optimized T4 Temper: A hardness of 61 HR30Tm gives the strength needed for crown crimping while staying ductile enough for presses running over two thousand caps per minute.
- Uniform Electrolytic Coating: A 2.8/2.8 g/m2 tin layer ensures consistent lacquer adhesion and prevents iron exposure that causes pitting in acidic drinks.
- Excellent Solderability: The pure tin surface accepts side seam soldering and PVC gasket liner bonding without any surface pre treatment.
- Food Contact Safe: Produced with DOS food grade oil and chromate passivation to comply with FDA and EU 1935/2004 food contact rules.
- Precision Slitting: Coils are slit to tight width tolerances within 0.1 mm to minimise scrap on continuous crown press lines.
- Corrosion Resistant: The passivated surface resists rust during ocean freight and long storage in humid bottling warehouses.

Crown cap tinplate is used mainly for beer crowns, soft drink closures, sparkling wine caps and juice bottle crowns. Beverage producers rely on the consistent temper and coating to achieve leak free sealing and reliable liner adhesion.
It also suits water bottle caps, energy drink closures and vacuum bottle seals where a printed or lacquered decorative finish is applied over the tin surface.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceCoils are supplied eye to sky, wrapped with moisture proof kraft paper and anti rust film, then secured with galvanised steel strapping on seaworthy wooden pallets.
Every heat is traceable and each coil is marked with heat number, temper, coating weight and dimensions. All material runs under an ISO 9001 system with in line coating weight and hardness testing, and mill test certificates or SGS reports can be supplied.
