Product Description:
310S is a high-alloy austenitic heat-resistant stainless steel. Its core advantages lie in its excellent oxidation resistance and high-temperature strength, but its corrosion resistance (especially resistance to chloride ion pitting) is not its strongest point.
Unlike the common 304 (general-purpose corrosion resistant) and 316 (chloride ion corrosion resistant), 310S is designed with "high-temperature oxidation resistance" as its primary focus. Its high chromium (Cr) and high nickel (Ni) composition allows it to form a stable and dense chromium oxide protective layer at high temperatures, preventing further oxidation of the internal materials.
Main characteristics: High temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, creep resistance.
Secondary characteristics: Good corrosion resistance (but not as good as specially optimized corrosion-resistant alloys), good machinability and weldability.
Visual understanding: It can be seen as "heat-resistant steel among stainless steels," often used in applications "working in fire."

High-temperature performance:
Continuous operating temperature: Up to 1150°C.
Oxidation resistance temperature: Maintains excellent oxidation resistance below 1100°C. Comparison: The limiting oxidation temperature of 304 is approximately 870°C, while that of 316 is approximately 800°C. 310S has significantly higher heat resistance than both.
Corrosion Resistance: At room temperature, its corrosion resistance is superior to 304, but due to the absence of molybdenum (Mo), its resistance to chloride ion pitting and crevice corrosion is not as good as 316. It also exhibits good resistance in high-temperature sulfide and carburizing atmospheres.
Magnetic Properties: After solution treatment, it is non-magnetic or weakly magnetic.
Weldability: Excellent. It can be welded using all standard methods.
