Hot Rolled SS300 Series SS400 Series Stainless Steel Coils No.1 Surface 3mm To 20mm

While the surface of "Hot-Rolled No.1" steel is not aesthetically pleasing, its low cost, wide thickness range, and good mechanical properties make it an ideal intermediate billet or structural component material for many industrial fields. Its main uses can be divided into two categories:

1. As a billet for subsequent processing (the primary use)

This is where its greatest value lies. Steel mills produce Hot-Rolled No.1 coils and sell them to downstream factories for further processing.

For cold rolling: As a raw material in the cold rolling process, after pickling and cold rolling, it produces various cold-rolled products such as 2B, BA, and No.4, with bright surfaces and precise dimensions.

For industrial pickling: Direct pickling yields a clean, uniform silvery-white surface (i.e., "Hot-Rolled Pickled White Skin," or HRAP for short), used for structural components where surface finish requirements are not high.

2. Direct use in specific structural or functional components
In some situations where appearance is not a primary concern, but rather strength, heat resistance, or cost is prioritized, it can be used directly.

High-temperature oxidizing environments: Such as boilers, heat exchangers, and furnace components. Its rough oxide layer is relatively stable at high temperatures. Load-bearing structural components: such as structural supports and platforms in the chemical and power industries, internal reinforcing ribs and bases of equipment, etc.

Wear-resistant parts: No. 1 surfaces of some 410 and 420 series martensitic stainless steels are used to manufacture wear-resistant parts.
