Corrosion Resistance: The transported media (such as acidic oils and gases containing hydrogen sulfide, brine, etc.) may be corrosive. Pipelines typically need to possess a certain degree of corrosion resistance or provide a good substrate for subsequent internal and external coatings (such as epoxy resin, polyethylene).

Rigorous Inspection: Pipelines must undergo more stringent non-destructive testing (such as ultrasonic and X-ray) and hydrostatic testing than ordinary steel pipes to ensure no defects are missed.
